wordpress.ornyx.net

Started this to consolidate all the plugins written for ASI for sharing with the community. All are GPL and am hoping to push it up to WordPress Extend.

For now, I’m happy to say that ASI’s almost done. Exciting times.

Just wishing now there is some FOSS app that will automatically trawl a SVN repo and generate project pages for general public consumption out there with download links, info, descriptions and what not.

Apache warns that your NameVirtualHost has no VirtualHosts

Okay. That’s a weird warning, but apparently it has to do with VirtualHost configuration that I’ve never bothered to read up on or get right, because ultimately in the end, it is just a warning and Apache still gets the whole thing right.

Still, now that I’m running my own VPS, I might as well get it fixed. So here’s it.

This apparently affects Apache configurations on hosts that only have 1 IP address for a variety of domain names or subdomains. The correct fix would be to declare a single NameVirtualHost as a wildcard and have the VirtualHosts sections in the configuration define the address using the ServerAdmin directive.

Theme fixes

Am liking this lightweight theme. Just needs some fixes to it including the comments display. Will probably work on doing this thing up properly once ASI’s done.

With the ASI project, I probably have learnt quite a fair bit about using Wordpress as CMS as well as getting it deployed as a solution that companies can leverage for a variety of uses.

I’m liking its theme system a lot. None of those templating systems you have to learn and all, just pure PHP and exposed functions provided by Wordpress for the purpose of allowing you as much customisations as much as possible.

What’s more, their extensive plugin database provides for quick development of features without actually having to write your own.

Still, I think it’ll be pretty cool if Wordpress could wrap their functions OO style. Would make things even more interesting for plugin and theme developers.

Money back.

Good morning Jeremy,

Per your request, I have canceled your hosting package from our billing system and have terminated the account from our servers.  A refund for your recent payment has been issued to the originating credit card as detailed in the following transaction…

Yeah! On to greater things at Slicehost!

Slicehost!

Had enough of Site5’s lousy tech support. I think I can do better myself.

Contemplated getting hosting under mediatemple, but after reading online a little and finding out about the GPU nonsense, I guess paying the same amount for an account with Mediatemple is in no way comparable to paying the same amount to run my own server.

So here I am, at Slicehost running this on the basic 256mb slice. Not a lot but sufficient for my needs.

As usual, the setup is as follows.

Everything is distributed the way I like it. Booya.

Did I mention sweet sweet SSH access and even sweeter Subversion? Heck, I could even install Git if I wanted.
